Volunteering

2011 was the European Year of Volunteering which led to a surge of interest in volunteering and also in the opportunities that have become available. So there has never been a better time to share your skills and develop new ones while giving some time to other people, projects and worthy causes.

We in the Students Union have always promoted volunteering and since 2005 when the DITSU CSR programme was begun (in response to the Tsunami in Indonesia) we have been sponsoring DIT students who volunteer to work for charities during their Summer holidays.

Each Summer since then, DIT students have been all over the world, giving their time to good causes and we have been very happy to support them. However, there are many ways to get involved - the most popular of which we will discuss in this section.
