Elections
Each year, DITSU introduces new blood into the Union with elections for President, VP Education, VP Events and VP Welfare. The four Elected Officer positions are full time, permanent 12 month jobs running from 1st July until June 30th of the following year.
We also run elections for our six part time College Officers and the Postgraduate Officer, whose terms run concurrently with the Institutes semesters.
How does it all work?
The DIT Students' Union elections are managed by an Electoral Commission, as established under the DITSU Constitution (Article 22). This Commission sets out regulations relating to the running of the elections. The Commission is independently chaired and is represented by students of DIT. All information and advice that you need to run your election campaign is provided by the Commission.
All students are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the candidates, and attend the College Officer "Meet the Candidates" session at local College Fora for College Officers and the Sabbatical "Meet the Candidates" followed by President Q& A in Dublin City Hall. Here you can ask the candidates how they will be working for the students of DIT both locally and overall.
