Huge turnout for Protest!

Congratulations to the DIT students' who turned out in their hundreds to pound the pavement through the city yesterday to express their anger at both the huge increase in their registration fees and the proposals to reintroduce third level tuition fees.  It is estimated that over 10,000 students took part in yesterdays protest, which ran from Parnell Square to Leinster House.

It was encouraging to see that the pensioners, who had just finished their own very successful protest filled the coffee shops and the streets along the route to shout words of encouragement  to the younger generation.  And never has the generation gap seemed so small and insignificant - those who worked to build this country into the prosperous first world country it is today and those that will take that responsibility into the future.
