DIT Alfa Romeo Fashion Show 2011

On March 29th the annual DIT Alfa Romeo Fashion Show will be held in Vicar Street.

This year’s theme is Romeo & Giulietta – A Bad Romance. With last year’s theme being Rock Revolution we felt this year we needed to create something very different, hence the romance. We have based our theme on Alfa Romeo’s new car, the Alfa Giulietta and have also added A Bad Romance to give it that modern twist. This year’s theme is a combination of roses and thorns, love and lust, all based in the ruined scenes of a romance.

Tickets on sale from DIT Students' Union Shops. Students:  €15 and Non-students €20 or alternatively you can book online here (this includes a booking fee) Students 19.53 and Non-students:25.20.

DIT Students Katie Harrington and Maria Aprile are this years show directors in 2nd year of Business and Marketing in DIT Aungier St say

“This year’s theme has allowed everyone involved to be very creative, so what people are about to witness is very special. We pride ourselves on providing not only a fashion show but an experience. We have our Dance and Break Dance societies on board again this year to provide us with another year of entertainment. As always we try to bring something to new and wonderful to excite our audience and this year we have it! I think it’s only right that we keep this one a surprise!”

Each year we hold a Student Design Competition which allows up and coming designers to enter from all over Ireland. Our competition is now the second biggest student design competition in Ireland. Every year it grows in prestige and exposure and is finally getting the recognition it deserves. We have a fantastic panel of judges on board this year including Maria Fusco, Bairbre Power, Angela Scanlon and Brendan Courtney. On the night of our show our lucky audience will get to see the final eight designs that the finalists have created, all based around the theme of this year’s show. The lucky winner will receive and beautiful trophy and a €2500 cash prize.

With the fashion show now in its eighth year it is paramount we step it up each year. In these last few months running up to the show there has been an extremely committed team of students working on every detail to ensure this show is the best yet. We are all so excited to see it all come together and guarantee our audience a night to remember- oh and a fantastic goodie bag!

All proceeds raised from this year’s show will go to the DIT Foundation, in particular to the Student Scholarship Fund, which helps students who are in financial difficulty complete their studies.

Connect with the fashion show on Facebook, Twitter, their website, their blog or by email at ditfashionshow@gmail.com.
