Dublin Area Guide

Here's our guide to the different areas of the City:

Northside:

(All odd numbers)

Dublin 1:

Includes most of the north inner city. From Henry street to Jervis street, you will find many shops which might have a bargain or two in them.  If its not the shopping side of things you are looking for then you will find some of Dublin's most chilled pubs, which are highly desirable by students. If you choose to live in this location you will be short distance from all Northside DIT's which include: Bolton Street, Cathal Brugha Street, Mountjoy Square and Portland Row.

Dublin 3:

Fairview is well serviced by buses, with a huge park and plenty of shops. Clontarf is slightly more up-market, which would be family orientated, close to the sea front. Very residential....not so popular for student parties!!

Dublin 7:

Includes Arbour Hill, Broadstone, Cabra, Phibsboro, Smithfield, Stoneybatter, these areas are becoming more popular for students to live. There are some great pubs in these areas and if your in to Gaa your are not far from Croker!!

Dublin 9:

Drumcondra would be the most popular location in this area, as it is considered to have some of the best pubs in Dublin, like Sean Kavanagh's aka “Gravediggers” from the Smithwick's are well worth checking out!! There are plenty of students as well as families. You can visit the Botanical gardens in Glasnevin, if you fancy getting away from the city

Southside:

(All even numbers)

Dublin 2:

This area is very attractive for students, as you will find pubs, clubs and shopping. From Temple bar to Stephens green. There is plenty of action at this side of the Liffey. However,  the rent can be a little pricy, but dont be disheatned as many a jammy student has found a bargain here.

Dublin 4:

Donnybrook and Sandymount are both great locations – if you can afford them. Although some students are known to get a bargain. Notorious for being upmarket... accommodation is good quality and the location is great for town!! Irishtown and Ringsend are a bit more affordable, but with less amenities.

Dublin 6:

Ranelagh, Rathmines and Rathgar are all good locations for the city centre. You will find shops, bars and most other facilities. Rathmines is a great student area and there is little need to venture into town!! If you are studying in DIT Rathmines you will just have to roll out of bed and into college.
