DIT Student Assistance Fund
Stuck for money? There is a pot of
money available in DIT to help students in financial difficulty.
Whether you avail of a grant or not, you can apply. This year
the funding is broken down in a variety of areas, to assist students
with funding for childcare, to rent payment, class materials and even
medical expenses.
There is strict criteria that you must
meet to be eligible for the funding, but if you dont ask, you'll never
know. So get down to your local SU office and grab an application
form. They are available now and considering the economic climate
that we are in, we recommend that you submit yours as soon as you can.

The DIT Student Assistance Fund provides
financial assistance for full-time higher education students who are
experiencing financial difficulties whilst attending college.
Remember, the DIT Student Assistance fund another source of funding
for higher education students in addition to schemes such as the VEC
or County Council Maintenance
Grant and the Millennium
Partnership Fund. Check out studentfinance.ie for more details.
Each year, the State allocates a certain
amount of Student Assistance funding to all publicly funded higher education
colleges based on the size of the college’s full-time student population.
Students in need of financial support can then make application in the
college for assistance under the Fund.
The Student Assistance Fund is funded
by the Irish Government and part-funded by the European Social Fund
under the Human Capital Investment Operational Programme 2007-2013.
DIT Student Assistance Schemes for 0910 include:
-Rental Assistance(1,000 per annum)
-Class Materials Scheme (600 per annum)
-Student Assistance (Interview requirement)
-Travel Assistance (compulsory travel abroad)
-Emergency Assistance
-Dental/Ophthalmic Assistance
-Specialist/Medical treatment Assistance
