On my return to class the following week, the usual banter was flying around the classroom. People laughed light-heartedly, suggesting that it was nothing but an excuse for a few jars. Allow me to speak on behalf of all class reps and state that while we did have quite a bit of fun in the evening, what we did during the daytime was nothing short of useful, productive and informative. If your class rep hasn t told you of the goings on already, ask. Here s a brief summary of what went on. The first major thing is the  f word. I am of course referring to fees. The minister for education, bat o thief wants to see us pay through our arses for our education, by 4th year we could have paid thousands for our degree if he gets his way. Hence there s a protest on October 22nd at 1.30pm. If you only attend one event in dit this year then make it this. Every 3rd level institution in the country will have representatives there so it s vital we show our support and keep education from becoming a commodity. There seems to be a mutual feeling about the below quote among students at the moment so well done Class Reps, 1-0 to DITSU.  Not only would the return of fees be a disaster for students and their families, but it would put at risk the very idea of our knowledge economy by placing a barrier in front ofаthose wishing to further their education Sean Kelly, USI President. Secondly I wanna tell y all about class parties. Class Reps will be more than happy to arrange get togethers for almost any occasion, DITSU provides a good service in which we can book somewhere at a discount price, with drinks promotions etc but the key word here is notice. Reps will make the party organisation as hassle free as possible so all you ll have to worry about is turning up, socializing and enjoying yourselves! Any feedback on how to make the most of the nights out should be shared with your class rep. Y all want a party, not to fall a-party! 2-0 up now folks! Twice yearly us class reps will be asked to sit on a programme committee. Basically we will be able to put forward any changes we feel are necessary for our course or specific modules. The first one is coming soon so please don t hesitate to talk to us about any issues you may have. 3-0 and DITSU are running away with this! So all in all, the weekend was a huge success. Hopefully everyone is settling in okay, if you have any problems at all, at all then please come talk to us. They don t like to brag but DITSU can pretty much do anything. So any queries you have please don t keep them inside! They provided excellent training on negotiating and dealing with all sorts of issues over the course of the weekend, don t see it go to waste!
